First Day

We had our grand opening this morning. As expected George was less than tickled to discover he'd not only have to battle numbers, he'd also have to read fiction, which he prefers to refer to as lies. I gave him his choice of four short novels, and after much hemming and hawing he chose A Ballad of the Civil War, noting it was "at least based on non-lies".

(Quite surprisingly he embraced the concept of "Daily Poem: Read & React" completely and found himself quite charmed by A. A. Milne's "Furry Bear". )

nonfiction read & react: Kids were onboard the Titanic, too
fast math: multiplication facts
math unit: Chapter 1 pretest, Houghton Mifflin Math North Carolina, Grade 4
science: (earth) formation of volcanic islands, Surtsey
(biology) selected lab, prepared list of materials

A fabulous, ambitious undertaking. I have boundless admiration for your energy and industriousness. And a great thing for George as well, I'm sure. I'll look forward to your updates :-)

Thanks, Bil! I'm afraid you'll likely be bored silly, but any thoughts or ideas you have are more than welcome!
